Packaging & Loose Fill Vermiculite

Exfoliated vermiculite is a lightweight mineral material used as loose-fill packaging where cushioning, void filling and liquid absorption are important. Its low bulk density makes it particularly useful for filling empty spaces around products without adding excessive package weight.

VX Resources Canada processes and supplies exfoliated vermiculite from our facility in Gananoque, Ontario, with multiple grades available for commercial packaging and loose-fill applications.

Common Packaging Applications

• Loose fill and void filling
• Cushioning around packaged products
• Packaging of bottles, containers and fragile items
• Absorbent fill around liquid containers
• Commercial and industrial shipping applications
• Specialized packaging requirements

Why Vermiculite for Packaging?

Expanded vermiculite is lightweight, free-flowing and able to conform around packaged items and fill irregular spaces within a container.

Its porous structure can also absorb liquids, providing an additional benefit where leakage or breakage of liquid containers is a consideration.

Unlike many conventional packaging materials, vermiculite is an inorganic mineral material and does not readily decompose or deteriorate during storage.

Choosing a Vermiculite Grade

Medium Vermiculite is a versatile choice for general loose-fill packaging and cushioning applications where a larger particle profile is preferred.

Fine Vermiculite may be suited to applications requiring smaller particles, closer packing or greater distribution around smaller packaged items.

Other grades, including Large/Coarse and Micron, may be available on request for customers with specific particle-size or packaging requirements.

Commercial Supply

Medium and Fine vermiculite are available in 4 cu. ft. bags, with 15-bag skid and 30-bag full-pallet purchasing options for larger requirements. For ongoing volume, custom requirements or larger orders, contact VX Resources for a commercial or wholesale quote.
